On Saturday December 10th, Circle City Chorale along with the Circle City Singers and the Circle City Children’s Choir performed their 6th Annual Christmas Concert to a sold-out audience in attendance. In addition to grand favorites like “Oh Come, All Ye Faithful”, “Betelehemu”, and “Hallelujah Chorus” (from Handel’s Messiah), the ever growing C3 unveiled some brave technical pieces like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s own “Deck the Hall” arranged by Mack Wilberg. The Chorale also introduced new favorites this year to an enthusiastic applause, namely, “The Twelve Days of a Regifted Christmas” by Greg Gilpin which featured solos by several members, each one displaying a particular unwanted regifted item and included a light-hearted “feather boa” section that caught the men off of their guard. Hilarity ensued. Continue reading »
Christmas is truly a magic time. The spirit in the air, the giving and sharing of love, the beautiful lights and scents . . .
Come share the magic at the Circle City Chorale’s wonderful holiday show, The Magic of Christmas. Three choirs – the full 65-member chorale, the smaller Circle City Singers ensemble, and the 30-member Circle City Children’s Choir – will perform standard favorites, modern renditions of classic songs, and and some less familiar but no less inspiring melodies. This is always an exciting and touching musical concert filled with the hope, joy, and magic of the season.
Reflections from Europe 2016 by Erick Lange
On May 8th, 2016, the Circle City Chorale finished up an eight day tour of Europe. The group visited and performed in three cities together: Prague, Czech Republic; Vienna, Austria; and Budapest, Hungary. Many members extended their trip for a few days, going to cities like Paris, Berlin, and Milan at their own leisure
Lights! Camera! Action! Oh, we had it all. From the 1930s to the 2010s. From Europe to St. Louis to Neverland. From opera to swing to modern. From satin and lace and sequins to . . . leather. Yeah. Well. It was a hit from every era and every genre. The Children’s Choir members were show-stoppers with songs like When She Loved Me from Toy Story 2 and Bop to the Top from High School Musical. Sometimes beautifully touching, sometimes funny and fun. The C3 members grabbed us with What You Mean to Me from Finding Neverland, Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom of the Opera, Hello Dolly (with trumpet, no less) from Hello Dolly, and Broadway Baby from the Follies. Probably the show’s most exciting number was La Vida Loca from Shrek. All that leather. Hm. A mix of the groups had numbers like Do-Re-Mi from the Sound of Music and I Know It’s Today from Shrek the Musical. Circle City Singers dug into the 1940s and swing with Singin’ In the Rain and Embraceable You. The Circle City Childen’s Choir’s medley from Annie was awesome. The full Circle City Chorale came together for the rousing medley from Guys and Dolls.
Thank you so much to our loyal fans. What wonderfully appreciative audiences you were. You are the reason we love to sing our hearts out. Just wait until you see what’s on the marquees for next year!
It’s show time! Join Circle City Chorale (C3) and the Circle City Children’s Choir (C4) as they celebrate the music of Broadway and the movies. Members of these two talented groups join together for a lavish production of this exciting music featuring solos and small groups from within our ranks. Featured songs will be performed from classic musicals such as Hello Dolly, Kismet, and the Sound of Music to newer musicals and movies including, Toy Story 2, Shrek-The Musical, and Pitch Perfect. C3 anchors the performance with a medley from Guys and Dolls.
This has always been an exciting show where members showcase their abilities and the audience gets to experience the wonderful talents possessed by the individual singers. (Between you and me, the children are amazing and NOT to be missed!) Circle City Chorale was founded in January, 2010, under the direction of Angela Rosser, with about 20 members. Now with almost 70 singers plus accompanists they put on a memorable show. Circle City Children’s Choir was formed in Fall, 2014. They are a bright symbol of what music can give to young lives.
Tickets are available through PurplePass beginning July 11, 2016!
Some of us just got back from a whirlwind tour of Europe, performing successfully in Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. We are very grateful that our music has been appreciated in such a variety of cultures. As wonderful as the experience was, it is great to be back home among our family and friends. Thank you for being so loyal.
