Katie Bourgeois – Director, Circle City Children’s Junior Choir

Katie Bourgeois (she/her) has always been surrounded by music. Her late grandmother was the choral director at the Crystal Cathedral in Orange County under Reverend Bob Schueller. Her late mother grew up in various choirs and had Katie do the same! Katie spent her elementary school years performing in two separate choirs and in various musicals. In high school, Katie sang vocal ranges from soprano to alto, was her advanced choir’s section leader and vice president, was president of her mixed ensemble choir, and performed in several different musicals under the Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD) musical program through the summers.

After graduating in 2008, Katie continued nurturing her love of choral music by directing and running an after-school choral program at Washington Elementary with 75 students! She ran and directed the program for six years. She has received several updates from past students who have continued their musical education after elementary school and are now in large performing arts groups!

Katie joined the Circle City Chorale in 2015. In 2019, she was asked by Angela Rosser to become the Circle City Children’s Choir coordinator and to start a new branch of the Children’s Choir called the Circle City Children’s Junior Choir. Katie has continued to teach these young singers the basics of music and performing. She has seen several of her students advance to the older children’s group under the Circle City Chorale. She now works full-time for CNUSD as a special education paraeducator and is now the director of the Circle City Children’s Junior Choir!
