Angela “Anji” Rosser founded the Circle City Chorale in January 2010 with a vision of creating a community where people could come together through music. For more than 16 years, she served as C3’s Artistic Director and conductor, shaping the choir into the organization and family it is today.
Anji passed away in May 2026. Her loss is deeply felt by our singers, our audiences, and the many people throughout the community whose lives she touched.
Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Anji lived throughout the country with her family while her father worked for the U.S. Department of Justice as a federal prison warden. She began studying music at an early age, singing in choirs and playing piano in elementary school, and continued pursuing choral and musical theatre throughout high school and college.
Anji earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, where she also served as Student Director of the Spelman College Glee Club.
For more than 20 years, Anji worked for Pacific Bell/AT&T, eventually becoming a Regional Sales Director. While at Pac Bell, she founded the Belltones, a corporate choir that performed throughout California for special events for more than a decade.
Anji also served as Director of Music at Corona United Methodist Church, overseeing its vocal and instrumental music programs for nearly 21 years. She taught piano and voice for many years and founded Melody Manor Music LLC in 2009. Her involvement in the community also included serving as a board member, vocal director, and instructor with Christian Arts and Theatre (CAT Corona).
Continuing Anji’s Legacy
Circle City Chorale began as Anji’s dream, but the community she built around that dream continues.
As we move forward without our founder and longtime Artistic Director, we are committed to honoring Anji by continuing the work she began: bringing people together through music, creating a welcoming place for singers, and sharing the joy of choral music with our community.
Her influence will always be part of Circle City Chorale. Every rehearsal, every performance, and every new singer who joins us helps carry her legacy forward.
We will continue to Sing, Soar, and Inspire, just as Anji taught us to do.
